Reverse Engineering Crocker Motorcycle Fuel Tanks

The Challenge:

Restoring old vehicles offers unique challenges. How can we reverse engineer a rare 1930s Crocker motorcycle to recreate the fuel and oil reservoir tank?

The Solution:

By laser scanning the existing parts, we developed CAD models of the left and right tanks. Hardwood patterns were created from the CAD designs with precision CNC machining to replace plastic inserts, and then the patterns were mounted with gate tooling. 3-D printed sand cores are made to cast the interior, the castings were further built out and finished.

The Results:

With precision CAD models highlighting the complex and intricate details, we were able to replicate the 1930s Crocker motorcycle fuel and reservoir tanks. Including 3-D printed cores ensured the interior structure met the unique design requirements. Our team was able to reproduce the contours to match exact specifications and preserve the original design with our innovative approach.
